SECURITY - READING

NR10 (Norma Regulamentadora number 10) issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Labor and Employment aims at ensuring the safety and health of workers interacting with electricity facilities and services (electricians, technicians, technologists and engineers). imposes compliance with the Technical Standards issued by ABNT.

Companies should compose, create, and maintain up-to-date NR10 specific records, provide training for their employees, and tailor their electrical installations to this standard. Adequacy advocates the safety of people and must be done in full compliance with the requirements of the various NBRs.

The Electrical Worksheet (PIE) is a system for the organization of information pertinent to electrical installations and workers that work with and in the vicinity of electricity and will synthesize the set of procedures, actions, documentation and programs that the company maintains or plans to execute to protect the worker from the risks of electricity in professional activities.

The company must organize the Electrical Worksheet, based on the NR10 with the purpose of making available to the worker all the information necessary for its safety, proving to the Ministry of Labor (MTE) the compliance with NR10 requirements and proving that all services are executed according to carefully defined and safe procedures.

All companies with installed power above 75 KW should keep the PIE up to date, being the entire employer or person formally designated by the company, maintenance and updating of this set of documents, and should remain at the disposal of the workers involved in the installations and services in electricity for consult.

One of the documents that makes up the PIE is the updated Inspections Technical Report to be drawn up based on an audit being carried out in the documentation, in the electrical installations and in the electrical safety processes of the company. The technical report shall identify all administrative and technical nonconformities encountered and shall contain a schedule of adequacy.

The technical documents provided for in the PIE must be drawn up by legally qualified professionals and must be organized and maintained by the employer or by the person formally designated by the company.

The PIE must have a minimum content that will depend on the size and complexity of its electrical installations. The content is comprehensive and will depend on the ability of the company's technical team to diagnose, analyze and implement appropriate solutions to ensure that all NR10 requirements are met.

It should be noted that NR10 determines in a direct and unequivocal manner that all electrical installations must comply with the technical standards issued by ABNT, regardless of the branch of activity or size of the company. In this way no company is suitable to the NR10 if it is not suitable to the ABNT standards, like the NBR5410, NBR5419 among others.

Those responsible for the companies must be aware that the creation of the PIE is not a guarantee of compliance with the NR10, without all the electrical installations of the company complying with the ABNT technical standards.
